Yup- That's me!
I'm a user experience researcher currently pursuing another Master's degree in Human Factors and Ergonomics. People think I'm crazy to start yet another degree with a young family. But I love the field of psychology and its expanse for human performance! I'm tickled by the scientific literature as well as findings from the direct observational studies. My transition from the field of Marriage and Family Therapy to User experience is carefully planned because this field excites and inspires me! It bridges my inner facets of being an artist, a researcher, and an advocate for children.
I bring to the table over ten years of experience working in the field of psychology, both in research and in practice. My rigorous training as a mental health professional has inculcated the deep thinking and observational processes within me. With this, my research and consequent design solutions are more empathetic in nature. My colleagues appreciate my powerful insights that are albeit small, but impactful. Conducting usability studies, writing heuristic analyses, interviewing, and analyzing results come naturally to me. I strongly believe in collaborating with the stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle, and building up an interdisciplinary team. Clear, concise goals, that are planned meticulously with implementable solutions in a precise timeframe, is a skill that I am especially proud of.
My goal is to collaborate with teams where knowledge can be integrated from my past skills to the applied technologies. My recent work has been focused on school environments and designing effective workspaces for children that optimize socio-cognitive work models. As my culminating master’s thesis, I’m exploring the impact of biomechanics of sit or stand postures on cognitive performance in children.
